In this video I'm going to show you how to automatically discover new devices on your network with GFI LanGuard.

A simple way to automatically detect when new computers are added to a certain domain or organizational unit is to use the Dashboard. Right click on the domain or organizational unit in the computer's tree from the Menu on the left side of the screen and select Network Discovery. From here, you can enable Network Discovery and configure how often to run the audit.

If you need to monitor new devices that are added to the local subnet, open the Configurations tab, click on the Add New Scan icon in the top left corner of the main window and define a schedule scan that will run on a regular basis using Network Discovery scanning profile.

Step 1 select this scan type. Step 2 define or select the local subnet. Step 3 set the triggering time for the scan. We'll run a Network Discovery once a week. Step 4 select the Network Discovery Scan profile. Steps 5 through 7 are not relevant for Network Discovery scans. Step 8 enables you to configure the reporting options by default a report containing the new discovered devices is emailed to the email address configured in the Alerting Options. The email address can be overwritten from here. In the final step you can review the scheduled scan job.
