Internet service functions

GFI Network Server Monitor has a number of tools for system administrators to effectively monitor their Internet systems.

Internet service functions

The availability of FTP, HTTP and HTTPS sites can all be checked, while website content can be examined by specifying a text pattern. The ICMP ping function checks a remote host for availability upon IMAP service login, and the email count of a specific folder is reviewed. DNS, SMTP, NNTP, POP3 and timeservers can also be checked that they are functioning correctly.

In addition, specific variables on remote machines or devices can be monitored via the SNMP GET message, while TCP ports can also be checked for responses by the software. The health of email services is checked by sending test emails and verifying their delivery at destination. Finally, the software also checks whether daemons are running on target Linux/Unix® computers.
