How to deploy custom software with GFI LanGuard

In this video I'm going to show you how to quickly and easily deploy custom software with GFI LanGuard.

GFI LanGuard can deploy custom software and scripts network-wide. Practically any piece of software that can run silently can be deployed using GFI LanGuard. To deploy custom software and scripts to your network open the Remediate tab, select Remediation Center and select Deploy Custom Software, select the computers or computer groups where patches need to be deployed from the computers tree in the left part of the screen.

Multiple items can be selected using control-click. Specify the software to be installed together with parameters for silent installation and configuration files if necessary. Click the Deploy button in the bottom right corner before starting the deployment. Make sure you set the right schedule and other options such as credentials. You can configure the pre deployment options from here by clicking Customize.

The Wake on LAN feature can be used to turn on computers if they are offline. A custom message can be shown to the end users to warn them about the deployment operation that can slow down their computers and might require a reboot at the end after deployment options mainly consist in specifying how the reboot at the updated machines will be handled.

Administrators can decide to, not reboot immediately, reboot at a later specified time or give control to the end-user on when to reboot A count down message can be shown with X amount of minutes before the reboot to warn end users to save their work for cases where administrators want to reboot as soon as possible and don't want to wait for the end users. The deployment progress is shown in the Remediation Jobs screen. Here you can see it being deployed.
