Controls what files enter the network via FTP/HTTP and helps ensure they are virus-free

London, UK, 13 July 2004 – GFI has today released an update to GFI DownloadSecurity 6, to support the newly available Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004. GFI DownloadSecurity for ISA Server 2004 provides customers with a rich content security solution that examines downloaded files for malicious content and viruses. The solution also gives network administrators more control over the files that users are allowed to retrieve from HTTP and FTP sites.

ISA Server 2004, an advanced application layer firewall, VPN and Web cache solution, provides customers with deep content inspection capabilities. GFI DownloadSecurity extends that functionality with: multiple anti-virus engines, assuring higher detection rate and faster response to new viruses; the ability to quarantine downloads based on file type and user; a Trojan and executable scanner, to detect malicious executables; and network-wide blocking capabilities for Java applets and ActiveX controls.

How GFI DownloadSecurity for ISA Server 2004 works
Users do not notice GFI DownloadSecurity until they download a file: Then GFI DownloadSecurity displays a download progress dialog box and the download proceeds. Once the download is complete, GFI DownloadSecurity scans the file for viruses. If the file has no viruses and does not trigger a rule set by the security administrator, the user receives it immediately. If the file triggers a rule, it is put into quarantine for administrator approval. Once approved, the file is sent to the user as an email attachment or link.
