Stormy waters ahead for fax server industry
London, UK, 11th May 1999 - GFI, leading developer of fax software, is the first company to offer a free five-user version of its enterprise quality fax server, FAXmaker. The free download is available from http://www.gfi.com.
“We were the first company to offer a free no limitations two-user version. Now we’re the first to do so with a five-user version of our premium fax server software, formerly sold at US$349. Our aim is to further expand our market share and highlight GFI’s undisputed leadership in the field,” explains Nick Galea, president of GFI, acknowledging that this unprecedented move is likely to put pressure on companies in the industry to follow suit.
“Through our offer, all interested corporates – including small businesses – can see for themselves how FAXmaker cuts costs, increases efficiency and enhances a company’s professional image by guaranteeing better quality faxes. Those who download the FAXmaker software can assess the product to their heart’s content at no cost, and our existing customers will enjoy the opportunity to try out the latest version of FAXmaker,” Mr Galea points out.
With more than 55,000 fax servers shipped since its launch, FAXmaker is an industry leader when it comes to reliability, robustness, ease of use, administrative simplicity, and price. FAXmaker for Exchange was one of the first fax connectors for Microsoft Exchange server, and was recently awarded the CTI Magazine 1998 Product of the Year Award for its tight integration with Exchange Server.
FAXmaker for Exchange version 6.0, out this month, includes many new enterprise features such as remote user and fax server administration, least cost routing, user configuration profiles, remote viewing of fax server status, enhanced document rendering and an API toolkit using Comm objects. On the user side, FAXmaker for Exchange 6.0 now includes Outlook fax forms that add fax options such as scheduling, resolution and billing codes to the Outlook menu. Additionally, in the new version, incoming faxes are distinguished from e-mails by a fax icon in the e-mail Inbox.
Yet companies need not invest in an Exchange server to enjoy these benefits: The latest version of FAXmaker for Networks/SMTP is the first fax solution to support the Business fax field in Outlook without requiring Exchange Server.
Additionally FAXmaker for Networks/SMTP offers high-end features such as remote fax server & user administration and remote viewing of fax server status. This means that users can now keep all their fax and e-mail contacts in one address book instead of having to maintain two separate address books. The new version also includes a new API toolkit using Comm objects, enhanced document rendering, Word mail merge support and support for Lotus Notes.
Pricing starts at US$495 for a 10-user version. However, through its fantastic free five-user offer, GFI is offering all interested individuals the chance to sample the advantages offered by FAXmaker at no cost.
