London, UK, 30 June 2000 - GFI, leading developer of fax server software, today announced the release of its new email-based fax server, FAXmaker for SMTP 2000. FAXmaker for SMTP 2000 is based on the SMTP protocol, and works in conjunction with the Windows 2000 SMTP service or an existing SMTP/POP3 server or Lotus Notes. This design delivers unmatched scalability, email integration and ease of use. Instead of proprietary fax clients, Microsoft Outlook or an SMTP/POP3 client is used as the fax client.

FAXmaker for SMTP 2000 supports the Windows 2000 fax modem drivers, which gives a wide range of hardware support. In conjunction with the Windows 2000 SMTP service, FAXmaker can also be used as a complete SMTP/POP3 server. However, it can also integrate with popular SMTP/POP3 servers and Lotus Notes.
