Three years ago, our mail flow suddenly started increasing, with lots of spam in it. Your software works better than any other filter I've tried. The thing I like most is that is requires almost no maintenance yet we went from 75% daily junk mail to less than 1%. We have been using GFI MailEssentials for over a year with great success. The installation is simple and can be done by almost anyone with a little knowledge of mail servers. After a test period of a few weeks the program started filtering almost 98% of all spam from the company email. All email users are very happy and it saves them a lot of time filtering the spam from the good mail. Before we had GFI MailEssentials I tested a lot of other vendors with spam filters but everybody in the company liked GFI MailEssentials best. When the trial version was over the real problem started because everybody wanted a spam free mailbox! So we purchased the software, and so far the program works great, especially the Bayesian analysis part, after analyzing the mail for a few days we almost banned out all the spam mail.
If you're thinking of buying anti-spam software, don't hesitate buying GFI MailEssentials, as far as I know it is the best around!

I would like to congratulate GFI on the new version of GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP (version 10). We used to run version 9 with great success. Installing version 10 was really easy and it integrates beautifully with Exchange 2003. The enhanced features in version 10 (mail archiving and list servers) are simply brilliant. I am amazed every day at the power of the anti-spam system. We receive more spam (non-work-related) messages than actual work-related messages every day. The fact that these "rubbish" messages are blocked by the spam filter saves our company a lot of wasted employee time.

Great product, easy to use and install. We were bombarded daily with infected emails and because the spammers were so smart, our employees would open the infected email thinking they were from another employee, therefore infecting others until we had a major outbreak. I tried other programs and some freeware and couldn't stop them from coming in. Especially when there are 150 users and they don't always pay attention!
I went to my computer supplier and asked what they used. I was told to download GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP and that I would get 30 days to try before I buy. That was all it took!

I write from my home and use Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 for mail. With my email address published in thousands of books, articles, and Web pages, I've always had a difficult time controlling spam and viruses. The problem was how to block spam and viruses without preventing my readers from contacting me. The frustration was trying to remain productive while sorting spam from legitimate mail.
The solution was GFI MailEssentials and GFI MailSecurity. Without these products, I'd almost certainly lose contact with my readers. I would like to share the great experience I've had with GFI MailSecurity and GFI MailEssentials. I previously ran a different program that scanned at the IS level only which took up many resources and was not as effective. I am running GFI MailSecurity at the SMTP level and I can now detect viruses before they ever reach the IS or potentially the user. GFI MailSecurity uses far less resources, and it protects against viruses like Netsky. I also really like the approval form that is in the administrator's email. That is really handy for the occasional email that is blocked based on attachment. I've also been using GFI MailEssentials on my server for over a year now. GFI has not let me down yet. I tried many other virus/anti-spam products and they all failed my tests.

We have been struggling with spam for over four years with each year exceeding the last for volume and annoyance. We had users who were averaging well over 300 junk emails a day, which was a huge burden on our servers and network. We used several different products to try and manage spam and junk mail to no avail. In the article “Shielding intellectual property”, The Australian (30 March, 2004) reported that the Australian Membrane Biological Research Institute (AMBRI), a biotechnology company, uses GFI MailSecurity and GFI MailEssentials.The security of more than a decade's worth of research and experimental data is fundamental for this company, meaning that emails containing viruses must be filtered at all costs. In the article, AMBRI’s network administrator George Hanna stated that, in the last two months alone, 1,699 viruses have been blocked automatically. Hanna also said that some 41 per cent of all email received by the company is filtered as spam.

The spam solution I used previously kind of worked (it ate real mail way too often AND ate entire mailboxes occassionally) and I thought that it was the nature of spam that I had to deal with a bunch while the spam-eating program ate most of it. I was wrong. While searching for other solutions I started to hear about GFI and GFI MailEssentials via reviews on the web. I went and downloaded the free trial and the next week I purchased the program. I have gone from over 120 spam mails per person a day to 2 or 3. I am now getting less than 1% of the spam I used to. What a great program. GFI MailEssentials is easy to install, easy to configure and fantastically priced compared to other products on the market. My users love the fact that they now have a JUNK folder and they can control what does and does not come to them. They were always questioning if something was "missing" with the previous spam solution, and, quite frankly, a lot of the time they were correct. Restoring mail from my backup program is time consuming and I have other things to do besides babysit a spam program. The bottom line? Your program works. So far, I must say I am more than a little impressed with GFI and GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP. The installation was a breeze and did not require the "usual" server reboot. When I had a question and had to call tech support, a member of staff answered all of my questions and was very professional and helpful. Best of all, the product seems to be solving my client's spam problem. Starting our own business after several years in the IT industry, we knew that we would need spam and virus protection for our fledgling company. To that end, we purchased a 10 user licence of the GFI MailEssentials & GFI MailSecurity Suite 3 months ago and installed it on our new MS Exchange server. When we installed the suite, we immediately noticed the benefits that we gained by employing the bayesian spam filtering facility coupled with the e-mail exploit protection that is offered. On a daily basis, GFI has been filtering a couple of hundred spams mails with remarkable accuracy and no intervention from anyone after the initial training period. We have also had cause to contact GFI's support team regarding a query on some of the features that are available. The response was timely and courteous providing us with the information we required in a straight forward and useful manner. Today however, we feel that the suite has paid for itself at least 10 times over. With the outbreak of the MyDoom virus, we have received in the region of 600 (and counting) mails containing the payload. MailSecurity I am happy to report, has stopped them all.

I'm glad there's an option that allows me to create a folder for emails tagged by the Bayesian filter. The reason? I can't believe that it's so accurate. I'm guessing about a 98-99% accuracy rate. I've not done anything with key words or black list simply because I don't see a need to. My biggest concern with my GFI MailEssentials 8 deployments was the amount of administration that my clients would encounter. GFI MailEssentials 9 all but eliminates that need. You guys really hit one out of the park.

Kudos for your folks who wrote MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP. Since we put it online, the flood of spam has dropped to a trickle. We used to be getting hit with about 500 mbs worth of spam a day. What's making it past the scanner is less than a Mb these days. This has also proven to be effective in keeping viruses such as the Sobig.F out. I just put the subject headings the virus uses into the scanner, and it dumps them when they hit the gate.

Since I turned on the Baysian filter 5 days ago, GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP has caught 549 (98.2%) of SPAM emails to my personal email address, with only 3 HAMs deposited to my JunkMail folder. We installed GFI MailEssentials on 30 January: On 26 January I received 225 spams; on 30 January, I received 8. Over the last 5 months, we have successfully eliminated 99% of our spam with your product. I never realized how much junk mail came in to our server. I was amazed because we only authorize about 100 people for Internet email.
