Create your own coverpage for GFI FAXmaker™ (Part 1 of 2)

on June 16, 2010

In this step by step blog article I will show you how you can easily create and customize your own corporate coverpage for GFI FAXmaker based on your own policies.

For this I’ll be using the following Microsoft Windows tools:

  1. Windows Explorer and
  2. Notepad Editor

Step 1

Open the following path with the Microsoft Windows Explorer:

“.. / GFI / FAXmaker / coverpge”. (Please click on images to expand)

Note: The folder is intentionally named as “coverpge” and not “coverpage” by default.

Step 2

This folder “coverpge” holds a set of default coverpages for GFI FAXmaker. GFI FAXmaker only supports coverpages in HTM and RTF (document file types). In this article I will create a new HTM coverpage based on my own guideline.

For this purpose I will select an HTM coverpage file from the above mentioned folder “coverpge”. As an example I will choose “FCover.htm”.

In the next step I will create a duplicate file by pressing the following key combinations (STRG + c and later on STRG + v). A new file “Copy of FCover.htm” will be created in the “coverpge” folder.

Step 3

Now I will rename this HTM file into a new appropriate filename: e.g. “GFI-Software-Coverpage.htm”.

After I have changed the filename I will open this file with the Microsoft Notepad Editor. This can be done by selecting the option “Open With” >> “Notepad” from the context menu. The context menu will open, if I click the right mouse button on the new coverpage file.

Step 4

The coverpage will now be opened in the Microsoft Notepad Editor. The content of the document is completely coded in Standard HTML language which I can now modify to my needs by adding or removing common HTML tags.

Note: The coverpage also contains some specific fields like [r_company], [s_company], [subject], [message], etc. which should not be modified at all. These fields will be replaced by GFI FAXmaker with values during the coverpage conversation process.
