Despite the evidence that proves that cloud computing provides a variety of benefits for the work environment, it’s quite alarming that the adoption of the technology is as low as it is.

The numbers are quite telling, and I’m not quite certain if its backward thinking that has prevented the move forward, or the lack of resources (or forward thinking) to apply such broad changes to the current system. But I’m thinking that the adopters of cloud computing will only increase in the future.

A very funny story indeed! I think The Borg analogy knocked it right out of the park.

Despite its popularity in a lot of industries, cloud computing (as we know it now) is still in its infancy stages. Give it some time and it’ll catch on soon enough. Whether, it’ll still be compared to the Borg, however, remains to be seen. But that’d be a future I’d be willing to keep my eye on.

As if further evidence is needed of the amount of misunderstanding about the cloud among C-level executives, Microsoft boss man Steve Ballmer has this to say after addressing a gathering of chief executives recently:

"It's kind of a funny thing. I tried to describe cloud computing to a group of 100 CEOs at our headquarters in Seattle last week, and I thought I had done a really fine job. And after I was done, a lady in the front raises her hand and says, I don't mean to be slow, but I still don't know what is cloud computing. Is it kind of like the Borg or something...."

Hey, someone that knows about The Borg but can't wrap their wetware around the cloud? I think there may be a serious failure to communicate here.
